The Piping department
has engineers and designers experienced in all aspects
of pipework in the Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical,
Chemical and both onshore and offshore Oil and Gas
industries.
The vast majority of this design is produced using
2D and 3D CAD systems. For 2D design we use AutoCAD
and Microstation. For 3D we use PDMS global software
which is widely considered to be the Industry standard
in 3D design. By using the global capabilities of
PDMS, we are best able to make use of out low cost
design centre head office in Teesside. We can also
offer a client flexibility to carry out some of
the design, simultaneously on the same model, in
their offices, site or fabrication yard.
We can also offer Photogrammetry services to create
3D PDMS models of existing plants. These models
can be accurate to +/- 3mm and are ideal to subsequently
perform ’cut and carve’ type plant modifications,
upgrades and improvements. For further information

The piping department works closely with the process
department and other disciplines to perform conceptual
plant studies for new and revamps of existing plants.
The Piping Stress Department perform all aspects
of stress analysis with the aid of PSA5 and Caesar
II. This analysis is performed to meet the sustained,
thermal displacement stress range and occasional
stress requirements of American and British Standards.
Static and dynamic load cases considered included
but not limited to the following: Dead-weight; Slug
flow; Wind; Water hammer; Thermal; Reciprocating
machine pulsation flow; Seismic; Relief valve blow
and Time history dynamic
Other design services offered by the piping department
included: Front end conceptual layouts; Sanction
estimates utilising ICARUS; Detailed design engineering
layouts; Isometric production using AutoCAD, Microstation,
I-Sketch or PDMS; Piping Specification Production.
